If you live in Chicago or Lansing, we're coming to you even sooner - this weekend, in fact. We're in the midst of writing some new songs, working on recording, and we have some new t-shirts on the way, so those of you who haven't seen us in awhile have something new to look forward to. It feels like summer just got here, and I don't ever want it to end,
but let's bring on the fall. July 10, 2008 Fall tour is coming together splendidly - we've got half the dates confirmed, and others are in the works. Looking forward to hitting the road! More news as it unfolds! June 30, 2008 As always, if you are interested in having us come to your town, feel
free to drop us a line.
Whether you're able to help us with a date on our upcoming tour, or
you live somewhere else and would like us to visit, your feedback helps
us determine where we go. May 17, 2008 1) We've got some local shows booked for this summer, the next of which is the Modern Radio 9-year Anniversary at the Triple Rock Social Club on June 6th. We'll be joined by Yellow Swans (last TC show), Sicbay (reunion!), FT (The Shadow Government), and Church of Gravitron (been too long). In addition to our set, we'll be doing a special set with FT(SG) performing as a 10-piece band. 2) We're figuring out a tour for the fall. Where we're going and for how long and when hasn't exactly been squared away, but it's on the table. Get excited, and tell us if we should come to your town. 3) Eclipse Records has re-opened and is again hosting all-ages shows 3 or more nights per week. If you're under 21, living in the Twin Cities, and have never seen live bands before, you've finally got that chance. Complete show listings are here. In addition to hosting all-ages shows, they're also going to have a full video & pinball arcade, and have a nice selection of records for you to buy. Support 'em. We've got something planned there for this summer, but it isn't yet announced. So shhh. 4) Dave, Brian and Pete from Signal to Trust have started a new band, Double Bird. Their first show is June 7th at the Turf Club with Tight Phantomz, Tornavalanche, Vampire Hands & His Mischief, as part of the aforementioned Modern Radio 9-year Anniversay. 5) It's spring. Get nuts. March 20, 2008 April 4th @ House of Rock in Eau Claire, WI w/ Drunk Drivers &
The Rebuilts Both shows are 21+. Advance tickets for the Empty Bottle show are available here. We're not the only ones celebrating milestones this year: In late-May and early-June, Modern Radio will be celebrating 9 years of releasing records, with past, present & future bands of the label joining together to make things a real blowout. More information is available on their website. STNNNG will be in on the fun June 6th at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis. We're heading back into the studio in mid-April to lay down some tracks for a split 12" with FT (The Shadow Government) which is expected for release later this year. Finally, thanks to everyone who came out to our recent shows in Kansas & Austin - we had a blast! More news soon, I promise. February 5, 2008 What this means for the rest of you around the midwest is that there are a handful of opportunities to catch us over the next two months. If you live in Kansas, Texas, Wisconsin, or Illinois, take a glimpse at our SHOWS page. In the meantime, work begins on the new record in less than two weeks,
and it goes without saying that we're all pretty stoked on getting these
tracks down on wax. Valentine's Day is coming up, so get
your lover something nice. January 2, 2008 What hasn't been previously reported, however, is that we are actually working on two new releases. In addition to the full-length, we are in the process of crafting songs for a 12" split that we hope to release sometime around summer. More specific details regarding that record will be announced at a future time. STNNNG will be playing at the Turf Club in St. Paul on January 19th with Haunted House, Child Bite (Detroit) & Sarah Johnson. We have no plans to book any additional local dates at this time, so if you're hoping to see us this year and aren't willing to travel to do so, this may be your last opportunity for awhile. Discussions are underway for some out-of-town dates, including a trip down to Austin for the SXSW music festival - keep an eye on our SHOWS page for the latest upcoming dates. Finally, if you haven't yet ordered your copy of the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", you may want to hurry, as quantities are extremely limited and this release will not be re-pressed. They can be ordered direct from Modern Radio. All the best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2008. December 13, 2007 November 22, 2007 What that means, however (and this is the good news), is that we are going to spend all of 2008 writing and recording our third full-length album. Those who have seen us live in the past few months know that we have a significant amount of new material, and we plan on getting basic tracks for those songs recorded early next year. We're really going to take our time with this one and make sure we do it right, and by the time it comes out, I think you'll all be able to hear all the work that went into it. For those who haven't seen us recently, aren't able to, and want to hear some of the new material, we will be on Radio K's "Off The Record" next Friday, November 30th between 3-5pm CST. You can listen online on radiok.org. We will be in the 7th St. Entry later that evening with Dillinger Four & The Brokedowns. Happy Turkey Day to all of you! November 18, 2007 If you were unable to attend this year's Lunch Show, there are limited quantities remaining of the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", now available for mailorder from Modern Radio. STNNNG is playing a show at the 7th St. Entry on November 30th with
Dillinger Four and The Brokedowns, and beyond that, we will be playing
very sparsely around town. Come on down! It promises to be a wild time. November 8, 2007 We are very excited to have FT (The Shadow Government) join us for this year's festivities. In addition to the STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", Modern Radio will also have the new FT (The Shadow Government) CD, The Black & White Album, and Signal to Trust's newly released Double LP of Golden Armour available for the first time! Lunch Show 5 posters will also be for sale at both shows. Weather is Happening from Wichita, KS will be joining us at the Turf Club for an encore performance of what is sure to be one of the most memorable shows of the year. Can't wait to see you there! October 17, 2007 We are now in the process of booking our European tour. Tentative dates are from May 7-21, 2008. If you live in Europe, and are interested in helping booking or promoting a show for STNNNG, please contact us. In other release-related news, The Means/STNNNG split 7", released by Nodak Records in 2004, is now being distributed by Modern Radio. If you haven't yet picked up a copy, it can be ordered from either label. Finally, if you like stand-up comedy, our next show at the Triple Rock might be up your alley. We are sharing the stage with The Unbookables' Andy Andrist, along with Matt Kirshen (finalist from "Last Comic Standing"), Brett Erickson & Arthur Hinty on Sunday, November 4th at the Triple Rock Social Club. See you there! August 26, 2007 This year, each person in attendance will receive a copy of the new STNNNG/Signal to Trust split 7", courtesy of Modern Radio. This record is being pressed in limited numbers, exclusively for the Lunch Show, so the best way to secure a copy is to attend. Additionally, those in attendance will have the first opportunity to purchase two new Modern Radio releases: FT (The Shadow Government)'s The Black & White Album on CD, and Signal to Trust's Golden Armour on vinyl. As always, lunch will be provided, while supplies last. Advance tickets are available now from First Avenue's website. Tickets are $7, doors are at 12pm (noon), and as with previous years, the Lunch Show is all ages. The same bands play later that evening at the Turf Club in St. Paul, with the addition of Wichita's finest, Weather is Happening. We are very excited and fortunate to have great friends in town to share in this occasion, and we hope that you will join us. To all of you in Omaha, Lincoln & Sioux Falls: We're coming to
visit next weekend. See you then! August 6, 2007 This coming Sunday, we will be at the Soap Factory for the Plaster The Town exhibit closing party. Come join us! Festivities begin at 3pm, and we take the stage at 7pm. Awesome Snakes, The Deaf, The Blind Shake & Chooglin' are also playing, and the event is free and all-ages. Several announcements are forthcoming, including information about
Lunch Show 5. Stay tuned. June 30, 2007 It's a long time from now, but we've discussed it this afternoon and
we are planning on booking a European tour in spring or summer 2008. June 21, 2007 Next month, we are playing at the 7th St. Entry for the 20th and 21st time, respectively: two shows with Kill The Vultures & Sarah Johnson, with Failed Heroes at the AA and Building Better Bombs at the 21+. It's a milestone, and it will be great to play with some bands with whom we've never shared the stage on our favorite stage. We've done some traveling around the midwest over the last month, and plan to do more in August. For the fall, we are tentatively looking back out east. If you live out east and missed us last year, this will be your chance. There are new songs in the works, new recordings (more details later!), and new t-shirts, too. And the buttons! Oh, if you haven't seen one, you should write us. Perhaps we can arrange to have some mailed to you. Summer is upon us, and so far it's been amazing. May
more BBQing, bicycle rides and tubing arrive in your future.
April 30, 2007 March 29, 2007 Before we leave, we'll be playing two great shows in town, with Noxagt from Norway and Comedian/Presidential Candidate/Deadbeat Hero Doug Stanhope, respectively. Even sooner than that is something I wanted to tell you about: THE WEEKEND. This weekend, in fact. Drunk Drivers are releasing a new album, and we have the privilege and honor of sharing the stage with them (and the charismatic Belles of Skin City) this Saturday at the House of Rock in Eau Claire - our very first time in this fine Wisconsin town. Locals both here and there are highly encouraged to attend. In the meantime, an interview with Jesse, Jeremy &
Adam is up at Minneapolis
Fucking Rocks. February 28, 2007 February 16, 2007 Speaking of Fake Fake, we approved new test pressings for the LP two weeks ago, and word from Modern Radio is that they should be shipping from the pressing plant next week. If you have an original version of the LP, you can get in touch with Tom at Modern-Radio dot com and arrange for an exchange. The original LPs are not the correct weight, and the labels are on the wrong side. Additionally, the new LPs were remastered and sound significantly better. Pending any other unforseen problems, Modern Radio should be shipping Fake Fake on vinyl the week of February 26th. In the meantime, Fake Fake is now also available for digital download from iTunes and eMusic. We are playing a bunch of out of town dates in March & April, including some regional shows in Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, and a weeklong tour to Texas and back. There are still a few unconfirmed dates, but you can see what we've got in the pipeline over on the shows page. If you can help out with any of the dates we're still trying to book, get in touch. In the meantime, we're playing a rare all ages show at
the Triple Rock tomorrow, and I'd encourage you to come out. Maps of Norway,
Shoe Shiners and Baby Guts are also on the bill. Doors are at 5. See you
then! January 9, 2007 Last August, as a part of the Sound Unseen Festival, we participated in the "Bands vs. Fans" bowling tournament at the Bryant Lake Bowl. The kind folks at BLB have invited us to participate once again this Sunday, January 14th. It takes place from 4-7pm, and there will be prizes and drink specials. Send them a message if you'd like to sign up. Other teams include Chooglin', Vampire Hands, Huge Rat Attacks, Attention, Ouija Radio, and members of Radio K & Drinking With Ian. The process of booking our spring tour has begun, as we've already started confirming dates. The week-long tour begins on April 20th, and this time we will be heading to the great state of Texas and back. If you are interested in helping us with a show, don't hesitate to get in touch. We'll be hitting Omaha & Oklahoma City on the way down, and hopefully will do a couple shows in Tennessee and making our return to St. Louis on the way home. In the meantime, those in the Twin Cities area will have a few chances to see us share the stage with a handful of great touring acts in the coming months, including Dianogah (Chicago), Child Bite (Detroit), Rent Money Big (Lincoln, NE), NOXAGT (Norway), and possibly more. More information available on the shows page. Finally, some Fake Fake LP information: We have
decided to have the vinyl lacquers cut elsewhere, and we believe we've
found someone to do this. A reference lacquer should arrive in the coming
week or so, and if it sounds ok, we will be able to approve it and send
it to the pressing plant. At that point, a test pressing will also be
made and sent to us for approval. With any luck, everything will go perfect
and smoothly and we can have the records back sometime around mid- to
late-February. I will post here with updates once we know more. December 19, 2006 For the curious, I've put up some links to reviews of
the new record, as well as some post-event write-ups of the 4th Annual
Lunch Show over on the press page. Enjoy! November 30, 2006 If you've never loved December, 2006 could be your year.
It certainly has been for us. November 19, 2006 We're rarely in need of a reminder why it is we love being in this band, but if ever there was one, yesterday was it. Everyone involved helped make it a truly memorable time, and we're all fortunate to live in such a supportive & creative community. We are blessed with great friends. Thank you! October 16, 2006 Meanwhile, we had a great time playing 3 crazy shows in Omaha & Wichita this weekend. Thanks to Koly, Dan & Matthew for setting everything up, all the bands for playing, and everyone for coming out and having a great time. We leave for our first ever trip out east on Thursday
night. It's gonna be a blast. Stay tuned! September 20, 2006
As previously mentioned, the new STNNNG record is called Fake Fake, and will be released on CD & LP by Modern Radio. Signal to Trust's new CD is entitled Golden Armour. This is the fourth time STNNNG & Signal have gotten together for a November lunch, and we couldn't be more pleased to celebrate the release our albums together on what has become a wonderful yearly tradition. Prior to this momentous occasion, we'll be hitting the
road for a number of dates around the Midwest & East Coast in October
& early November. Check out the SHOWS
page for more information - a few dates are still unconfirmed, but our
tour is almost completely booked, and we're hoping to add a Milwaukee
date on November 4th. August 14, 2006 Last Monday's show in Loring Park was a ton of fun. A look at our show history reveals that it was also our 98th live performance, so we're approaching a milestone of sorts. As things currently lie, show #100 will take place at Sokol Underground in Omaha, NE on October 13. We might just have to dig deep and make this one extra special... Finally, we're not playing locally for awhile - not until
the album release shows for "Fake Fake" at the 7th St. Entry
on November 18 (with Signal to Trust, who will also be releasing a long-awaited
album of their own) - but we will be hitting the road. Check out the SHOWS
page for our routing, and drop
us a line if you can help with the unconfirmed dates. July 23, 2006 We're working on some out-of-town dates for September & October, including a week-long tour out east, so those who are hoping to see us before the weather starts to chill should come to Loring Park on August 7th for Movies & Music in the Park. It's probably going to be the only hour-long set we'll ever play, so you're likely to hear some of your favorites. One final thing of note: The 4th Annual Lunch show is happening on Saturday, November 18th at the 7th St. Entry. This year is going to be extra special as not only will be releasing our new album, "Fake Fake", on Modern Radio, but our partners-in-lunch Signal to Trust will be dropping their new disc as well. Dual album release. Free lunch. And this year? BLOODY MARYS. It's on. Until then, keep rockin' the summer, go out to see local
shows and enjoy the warm weather. East coast, I dunno who you are, but
we're coming to find you. July 12, 2006 June 23, 2006 Two out of those three things are taken care of, but
we're not ready to announce it just yet. I'll tell you this, though: 10
tracks. November. Get your guest bedroom ready for our newest arrival. May 13, 2006 You might notice I've added a few new things to the site - a handful of new photos, a live video, and information regarding Stuck on AM 5, the latest release to bear the STNNNG name. Speaking of new releases, our recording session with Mike went very well last week. Adam's away on vacation, but after he returns home, we'll be knee-deep in getting this thing mastered (not to mention a number of shows). Expect an announcement soon about how and when our followup to Dignified Sissy will be released. For now, though, enjoy the new site. Feel free to drop
us a line with anything else you might like to see on the page.
We've been working hard in our rehearsal space finishing songs for the follow-up album to last year's well-received Dignified Sissy. Much of the material has been in our set lists for some time, but we've got a handful of new songs that will be recorded in May's upcoming session with Mike Lust. There is no release date for this as-yet-untitled record as we are in the process of contacting labels for interest, but we're hoping to unleash it to the world by the end of the year. Prior to our work in the studio, we will be embarking on the I'M THE SPIRIT INSIDE THIS STUPID MACHINE tour of the midwest with our friends FT (The Shadow Government) and Call Me Lightning. This bill will be appearing in Minneapolis, Iowa City, Milwaukee & Chicago at the end of April. On Saturday, April 29, on our way from Iowa City to Milwaukee, we'll be stopping by WNUR in Evanston, IL to play a set that will air later that night between 4 and 7pm. If you live in Chicago, you can tune in to 89.3 FM to hear it. Elsewhere, you can listen online. Copies of Ladies & Gentlemen #2 are going fast. I've been told that they should be in local stores relatively soon at places like Treehouse. This update is stuffy as hell and kinda reads like a science textbook or some equally boring brochure or pamphlet or something, doesn't it? Sorry about that, I am. I just woke up from a nap so I can stay up late enough to go see a show on a weeknight. I assure you, though, that there is much excitement around all of this news here in STNNNGtown. Come see us on Friday and it will be apparent. Over and out.
We've got a couple of free shows in March, and it's worth mentioning - we have one more local show in April, and then we're not playing again until June. So, y'know, it's a good time to come out if you've been meaning to see us. We'll be debuting a few new songs and maybe even some surprises. We guarantee a good time, or your money back. That show in April? It's kicking off a tour. I wrote about it last month, but it bears repeating, because it's gonna be sweet. Followed by recording. Oh man. Is anyone ready for another full-length? Finally, I set up e-mail accounts for everyone in the
band, so if you need to get in touch with anyone in particular with questions,
you can. Just check out the contact
page. February 7, 2006 At some point in the near future, we will also have an
order page on the website so you can order non-musical items such as this
Tom Stack-designed
t-shirt.
The musical stuff can be purchased from our respective labels or
the aforementioned music download sites. January 28, 2006 Yesterday also capped off a string of shows for January, and looking at the calendar, we are going to make scarce for the next 3 months as we work toward finishing the next record. You want details? I've got them. But first, something else - I'M THE SPIRIT INSIDE THIS STUPID MACHINE TOUR. We're hitting up the midwest in short-and-sweet fashion beginning on Thursday, April 27th with our friends FT (The Shadow Government) and Call Me Lightning, culminating with a big blowout at the Empty Bottle in Chicago on Sunday, April 30. Check the shows page for more details. Then, when we wake up the morning of May 1st, we're driving across town, back to the Phantom Manor where the new album is going to take shape. Mike Lust at the helm, 9 songs already in the bag, and things are looking good. Depending on what happens between now and then, you should be able to expect the new record by fall. Finally, issue #2 of Ladies & Gentlemen arrives on February 17th. A 24-page magazine including a 180g 12" slab of vinyl featuring 8 bands' exclusive tracks. I can't wait to see it, read it, and hear it. More information (including how to preorder) available at the magazine website. Totes excited.
This year has been absolutely surreal, and we're looking forward to an amazing 2006. We've got some great shows lined up in January to start the year off right, February marks the release of Ladies & Gentlemen #2 (the included LP includes a track from us, as well as many other great bands), and we're gearing up to go back in the studio and finish our next album with Mike Lust sometime in April/May. Here's what we know about the record: Nothing! How is it coming out? What is it called? How many tracks? What will the artwork look like? We hope to answer some of these questions in the next 6 months. Until then, enjoy the rest of your 2005, have a safe
& happy New Year's, and we'll see you in the 0-6. November 18, 2005 -Our 3rd Annual Lunch Show is tomorrow at the 7th St. Entry. Doors are at noon, food will be provided and it's an all-ages event - a rarity downtown. Come one, come all! We'll also be playing in Duluth that evening. After the lunch show, we get a small breather from local shows, which brings me to tidbit #2... -Ladies & Gentlemen #2 hits the stands on January 27th. There is going to be a release show at the 7th St. Entry on Saturday, January 14th, and we're proud to be a part of it. The show is still being put together, but I will add it to the SHOWS page once it is confirmed. As previously noted, the magazine includes a 12" LP, along with interviews, creative writings, artwork & other various musings, and we've contributed the song Tactics to the LP. After seeing the final track listing, we're very excited to have been asked to contribute. More information about the issue itself can be found here. Here is the track listing: SIDE A: September 28, 2005 You may or may not have noticed, but we've added a PRESS page to the website, so you can read up on reviews & interviews. Additionally, I've added links to our album art for each of our releases on the AUDIO page, and I hope to add more information regarding what went into making those records sometime in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future. I also fixed the pictures on the VISUAL page to display properly on Internet Explorer, but nobody complained previously so maybe you didn't care to begin with. Lots
of great shows coming up this month, so whether you've recently found
out about us or have been there since day 1, this is a good stretch of
time to come hang out. August 30, 2005 First, at the beginning of last month, STNNNG was nominated for two Minnesota Music Awards - "Best Punk Band" and "Best Punk Recording", for Dignified Sissy. The award show takes place on Wednesday, September 21st in the First Avenue Mainroom, and in addition to being nominated, we've also been invited to perform at the ceremony. Second, we again hooked up with our good friend & engineer, David Storberg, and tracked the song Tactics, which will appear in the upcoming issue of Ladies and Gentlemen. For the uninitiated, L&G is the brainchild of Erik Westra, the former editor of First Avenue's Foundation, and Dan Ibarra & Michael Byzewski, the fine folks over at Aesthetic Apparatus. Each issue of L&G comes with a 12" LP, featuring bands who are involved in some way within the pages of the magazine. The first issue included tracks from The Hold Steady and Iron & Wine (among others), and we are very proud and flattered to have been asked to contribute to issue #2. The issue is expected sometime in mid-January. Third, we are heading back to Chicago in mid-September to start work on the next album. Mike Lust will again be manning the soundboard, pushing buttons, directing traffic and lookin' good. We'll be laying down about half an album worth of tracks and hope to be back in the studio sometime in the spring. Finally, shows keep cropping up and are constantly being added to the schedule, so keep your eyes on the calendar. If you're in the midwest, we'll possibly be in your neighborhood by year's end. Summer's almost over. Go
out and enjoy it. August 20, 2005 In addition to those tasks, I've streamlined the site a bit more so it should load more quickly, and I've also figured out how to make the links more readable and friendly with the bright red background. As if that's not enough, there are a slew of SHOWS coming up as well, including tonight's soiree with WIVES from Los Angeles. Posters are coming down as fast as we can put them up, so either it's a hot ticket, or people dig the hell out of DWITT's design (I know I do). Come help us find out! Finally, on that aforementioned
SHOWS page, you can find a link to a list of past shows and finally see
where we've been, and not just where we're going.
